In classrooms across Australia, cultural diversity is part of everyday life. Students bring a mix of languages, traditions, identities and family histories that shape how they learn and connect. Yet teachers often tell us that it can be difficult to understand this diversity in a meaningful and measurable way.

To support schools with this challenge, Cultural Infusion has created the Atlas for Schools, a world-first program that helps schools explore, celebrate and learn from their own cultural diversity using interactive, easy-to-understand data.

The Atlas is already trusted by leading organisations around the world, including Blacktown City Council and Amazon Web Services. In 2026, it becomes available to Australian schools through a limited free Pilot Program and broader general access.

What is the Cultural Infusion Atlas for Schools?

The Atlas for Schools is an interactive data and visualisation tool that enables schools to understand the cultural makeup of their community. Through a short, anonymous survey completed by students and staff, the program maps key aspects of cultural identity, including:

  • Year level
  • Gender
  • Languages spoken
  • Countries of birth across two generations
  • Cultural and heritage connections
  • Sentiment questions such as “Do you have good friends at school?” and “What are your favourite subjects?”

Once the survey is complete, schools receive a comprehensive report, packed with vibrant charts and insights that can be shared during Harmony Week or throughout the year.

Research shows that culturally responsive learning environments support student engagement, strengthen wellbeing and build a sense of belonging. Understanding who is in your school community also helps teachers:

  • Support inclusive learning practices
  • Foster empathy and global citizenship
  • Connect curriculum to lived experiences
  • Build partnerships with families and local communities

The Atlas aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal 4.7 and AITSL teaching standards, supporting schools to embed intercultural understanding across teaching and learning.
