Chinese Wushu and the Monkey King

Chinese martial arts, also known as wushu, consists of the rich tradition of combat techniques, philosophy, and health practices that developed over more than 4,000 years. Wushu embodies the harmony of Yin and Yang and promotes the Martial Virtues, such as humility, integrity, respect, and discipline. In this workshop, students will enjoy a dynamic demonstration and interactive practice session involving Taichi (Taiji) and ancient sword skills. They’ll also meet the beloved Monkey King from the classic tale of ‘Journey to the West’ and see how he learns wushu on his path to becoming a legendary hero!

*Schools have the option to enhance this experience by booking an additional session of Chinese Shadow Puppetry, where the story of ‘Journey of the West’ will be brought to life through puppetry!
