ICAP: Flexible Intercultural Learning for Years 6–9

ICAP (Intercultural Citizenship Ambassador Program) is a flexible 4- or 8-week program designed for Years 6–9, supporting both primary and secondary schools to build intercultural understanding, empathy and student leadership.

Schools can choose to deliver ICAP during class time, or run it as a before-school, after-school, or OSHC/after-school care program. This flexibility makes ICAP ideal for wellbeing initiatives, transition programs, student leadership groups and small targeted cohorts.

Through interactive, facilitator-led sessions, students explore identity, belonging, cultural diversity and global citizenship while contributing to more inclusive and culturally aware school communities.

Schools also receive complimentary access to Cultural Infusion’s Atlas, giving students real-time insights into the cultural diversity within their school and supporting learning across both ICAP and the Modern Global Parliament.

Read a blog post on how ICAP can be used as an after school program to boost intercultural understanding and wellbeing of students, and watch a short introductory clip of the program.

Program Outline

  1. Welcome to ICAP – Co-create behaviour agreements, spark curiosity and celebrate diversity.
  2. Identity – Explore heritage and uncover hidden cultural layers.
  3. Empathy & Belonging – Reflect on inclusion through interactive games and scenarios.
  4. Self-Esteem – Identify values and build emotional intelligence.
  5. Intersectionality with Atlas – Use real data to challenge stereotypes and recognise diversity.
  6. Create a World – Design unique cultures, encouraging creativity, teamwork and leadership.
  7. Interfaith Insights – Engage with interfaith presenters to broaden cultural and spiritual perspectives.
  8. Model World Parliament – Apply intercultural skills in a mock global forum.
