Songs of Uganda

Experience the rich cultural heritage of East Africa in Songs of Uganda, an interactive workshop led by Joseph and inspired by his roots in the Baganda tribe. Through music, movement and storytelling, Joseph introduces students to the vibrant traditions that shape Ugandan culture.

The workshop begins with traditional songs performed in the Baganda language, accompanied by the Bakisimba dance and Kidigida rhythms. Students are invited to join in, learning call‑and‑response singing, rhythmic patterns and the stories behind the music.

Instruments featured throughout the session offer a dynamic exploration of sound and cultural identity.

Key elements include:

  • Traditional Baganda songs and vocal techniques
  • Bakisimba dance movements and Kidigida rhythmic patterns
  • Hands‑on learning with Engoma (drums)
  • Introduction to the Endingidi (tube fiddle)
  • Exploration of the Amadinda (xylophone)
  • Demonstration of the Adungu (harp)

Songs of Uganda offers an engaging and energetic journey into music, history and community.

Join Joseph and discover the rhythms and stories that bring Ugandan culture to life.
