Access to Assyria
Robin Zirwanda is a native of Iraq, where his people, the Assyrians, have lived for more than 7000 years. Together with his teenage son Josh, he brings Assyrian culture to life through vibrant music, storytelling and reflection on one of the world’s oldest living communities. Students are introduced to the Assyrian Aramaic language through catchy songs and interactive moments that highlight its deep historical significance.
The program explores
- Symbolism in Assyrian culture
- Cultural practices and traditions
- Displacement and assimilation
- Traditional rhythms and musical evolution
Robin and Josh share how ancient musical forms continue to influence modern sounds, creating a meaningful link between past and present. Their colourful costumes, inspired by the dress of ancient Assyrian royalty, spark curiosity and open conversation about identity, heritage and cultural continuity in today’s world.
This program is engaging, educational and a powerful way for students to connect with a culture that has shaped history for millennia.
Bring Robin and Josh to your school and inspire students with music, stories and traditions that continue to resonate today. Book now to secure your preferred date.
